Andrew McNeely portrait

I am a writer, editor, curator, and unabashed collector and distributor of memes. My work draws inspiration from aesthetic theory and the philosophy of art, the idea of the conversible world, the honing of attention as a moral imperative, and the imaginative possibilities of deliberative democracy.

From 2022 to 2024, I served as curatorial advisor to Beatriz da Costa: (un)disciplinary tactics (September 7, 2024 – January 5, 2025) at Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery. I have also curated A NonHuman Horizon (June 29 – September 1, 2019) at Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions and Restless Debris (January 9 – February 6, 2016) at the University Art Gallery, UC Irvine.

Since 2018, I have stewarded the Community Reading Group (CRG), an experiment in collective study that resists institutional closure. CRG is co-organized with Olivia Leiter, Michael Berlin, Joy Park, Hailey Loman, Evelena Ruether, and Zach Whitworth. I live in Los Angeles.
